FTL-Africa is a pan-African leadership fellowship designed to identify, develop, and support ethical, reform-minded leaders who are committed to transforming institutions across Africa.
FTL-Africa’s model is distinct in both scope and content. Unlike conventional leadership programmes that are confined to classroom instruction, the Fellowship integrates learning with practice across four pillars:
• Leadership and governance education;
• Embedded placements;
• Strategic and innovative reform projects; and
• Mentoring, coaching, networking, and long-term post-fellowship support.
Individuals with demonstrated leadership experience and a strong passion for leadership, governance, institutional development, and transformational change are encouraged to apply. Specific eligibility requirements will be provided during each application cycle.

The Fellowship runs for approximately 12 months, combining structured learning, mentorship, institutional placements, and project implementation. Fellows become part of the FTL-Africa alumni network and receive ongoing mentorship, networking opportunities, learning resources, and support designed to sustain their leadership journey and impact for up to 3 to 5 years after the fellowship.
The Fellowship consists of three integrated pillars:
• Leadership Academy;
• Institutional Placements; and
• Reform Project Support through Micro-Grants.
